Once in Italy and back

Capo di Ponte is a small municipality in the province of Brescia in Lombardy with an area of 18 km² and just over 2000 inhabitants. Nestled in a picturesque landscape in the central Valcamonica, the town is of great historical importance. There are three archaeological parks nearby, which are part of one of the most important prehistoric sites in Europe. These rock art parks offer visitors the opportunity to marvel at the famous rock engravings of the Valcamonica culture, which were recognized as Italy's first UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our accommodation was a dream come true. Nestled in a garden full of palm trees, it offered peace and quiet and a breathtaking 360-degree view of the snow-capped peaks of the surrounding mountains. Just a few kilometers away were Lake Garda, Lake Iseo and numerous smaller bodies of water - perfect for relaxing, walking, hiking, cycling and walking the dog. In the afternoon, we treated ourselves to fresh coffee, a cold beer and a relaxing game of backgammon - what more could you want?

Lombardy really is breathtaking. There is so much to discover and marvel at. It has a lot to offer in terms of scenery and will definitely not be our last trip there. My photographer's heart also got its money's worth.
