Konrad mine

In December 2016, I visited the Konrad mine shaft - a former ore mine tunnel - for my master's thesis »Bis zur grünen Wiese«. For several years, the tunnel has been converted into a repository for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste in Germany. At the time of my visit, construction was in full swing. Commissioning is planned for the 2030s,
My master's project shows photographs of the nuclear power plant in operation, through various dismantling phases, to final disposal and the greenfield site.
All nuclear power plants still in operation in Germany went off the grid on April 15, 2023.
